Waits
Ask a bot to tell you when something happens. It watches with no AI running, and speaks again only when it does.
Ask a bot "tell me when the build has finished" or "let me know when that page says it's back in stock", and it sets up a wait. While it waits, no AI runs: Brainwrite checks the condition itself, and the bot speaks again only when it happens.
What a bot can wait for
- A web page that shows some words, or no longer shows them. Pages are checked about once a minute, and less often while they keep failing. Pages on your own network or computer are never checked.
- A file or folder on the computer the bot works on: that it appears, disappears, or changes.
- A program that starts or stops.
- Another bot that finishes what it is doing.
When it happens
The bot posts a message in the chat where you asked, with an unread badge and a notification. If you asked for more ("then send me the report"), the bot does that too: its run shows as a card you can stop with Cancel.
While it waits, the chat shows a line such as "Sage is waiting for the build to finish" with Cancel. Once it has ended, the same line says whether it finished, stopped waiting, or was cancelled. Your phone shows the same line and the same Cancel.
Limits
- A wait lasts 24 hours unless you ask for longer, and at most 7 days. The bot tells you when one runs out.
- A bot can have 10 waits at once, and Brainwrite 50 in all.
- To see what a bot is waiting for, ask it ("what are you waiting for?"). To stop one, choose Cancel on its line or ask the bot.
- Waits set from a group chat, a routine's run or a guest's message can't start a follow-up.
- Restoring a backup or moving your bots to another computer ends the waits on this one.
